Charlie Parker (1920-1955) was the originator, along with Dizzy Gillespie, Thelonious Monk, Max Roach, and others of modern jazz, orignially called bebop. His musical contributions have stood the test of time and Charlie “Bird” Parker is considered to be one of the geniuses of American music of the 20th century.
