Hi Dave and everyone,
I want to play like Red Garland and Bill Evans, Wes Montgomery, Pat Metheny, Roy Haynes, Kenny Barron, Mulgrew Miller, Thelonius Monk. Is there a lesson or two I can take for that? I have been working on playing jazz for maybe 25 years or so, I think I am getting better but who knows. I play guitar, clarinet and piano. Forgot to mention that I'd like to be as bold as Pee Wee Russell and as melodically gifted as Paul Desmond and have the chops of Tom Harrell. Favorite tunes of late:

Red Garland, Soul Junction, 15 minutes of great, great blues playing
Bill Evans, Beautiful Love, I love this song
Lee Morgan, Gary's Notebook, Morgan has so much pop in his playing
Ed Sheeran, Thinking Out Loud, do you know this guy was born in 1991?
Van Halen, Drop Dead Legs,

thank you Dave for hosting this forum.
best
Jamie

Hi Jamie,

You may need more than one or two lessons for that, unless you are an extremely quick learner of course.

Anyway, by my calculations, you will need 14 lessons per day for 125 years, which I think is absolutely doable.

Keep us all updated. ;)
