Diminished chords

Post by pepe » Sat May 16, 2015 5:03 am

Hi,I am Pepe Martínez from Valladolid, Spain. I admire Dave Frank videos and would like to share musical experiences with this community.
I have a question Dave. I watches your lesson about chord maps and I like your idea of using a scale for progression instead of using a scale for each chord. But what about diminished chords? If you find a diminished chord going to I, or going to V7º do you improvise using the scale of I or do you use a diminished scale over the the diminished chord? Thanks a lot.

Hi Pepe, thanks for writing) Over diminished chords you can improvise using the whole-half diminished scale starting on the root. For example, over a C Diminished chord, use C D Eb F Gb Ab A B C
feel free to write anytime)
