Transposing by Circle of Fifths

Post by TheDarkPassenger » Sun Sep 13, 2015 1:36 pm

Hi Dave,

I'm currently trying to transpose the JOI Solo Pattern from lesson one based on the example given on page 22 of Book 1.

While I can understand how the chords are moving down by perfect fifths, Amin7b5 to Dmin7b5 to Gmin7b5 etc.. I cannot seem to understand how some accidentals are occurring. Example going from Dmin7b5 to Gmin7b5 a flat occurs on the first note b from f in previous key. Why does this occur? Another example is going from Gmin7b5 to Cmin7b5 a flat occurs on b going from f.

Any other tips on transposing would be much appreciated!

Best,

Simon.
