Using Contrafacts to learn tunes.

Post by Donsta » Mon Aug 10, 2015 9:37 am

I thought it would be useful to use the JOI Contrafacts to learn the related tunes. Using Leaf Line to help me learn Autumn Leaves worked great! But when I moved on to The Joy of C I started running into problems at the B section of You and the Night and the Music. The changes don't seem to work as well there.

I've been using the Chuck Sher Standards book for as a guide for You and the Night.

Any suggestions?

What a disappointment. I was hoping someone had finally going to help me but instead it's some spam crap.

I agree, particularly with chord voicings, using Dave's songs in his JOI books is really helpful.

I wonder if we can put together a list of all the songs from both books: I think I know the 1st book: Autumn Leaves, Lullaby of the Leaves, Some Day My Prince Will Come, Here's That Rainy Day, Sugar, All of Me, Topsy, I'm Getting Sentimental Over You, Beautiful Love, Just Friends, Angel Eyes, Ornithology, There Is No Greater Love, Yesterday, Yardbird Suite, What Is This Thing Called Love, Green Dolphin Street, Isreal, Indiana, Stardust, Laura, Thee Will Never Be Another You. It Could Happen To You,Blue Skies, All The Things You Are, Groovin' High.

Can anyone give the songs in the JOI Book 2?

Jeff
